The Phenomenon of Alignment in the Arabic Language: A Study Through Phonological, Morphological, and Syntactic Levels
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study explores the phenomenon of alignment (muhadhāʾa) in the Arabic language across its different linguistic levels: phonological, morphological, and syntactic. It investigates the origins and applications of the term within linguistic heritage, with Ahmad ibn Faris being among the earliest scholars to discuss it. The research provides examples and explanations demonstrating how alignment affects word structure and sentence composition, including changes in vowels and consonants to achieve harmony between words. It also examines the phenomenon's relevance in Arabic grammar and morphology, offering detailed analysis of Quranic texts and Hadiths to highlight its rhetorical dimensions.
