Abstract
This research aims to highlight simile, its components, and its types as found in Surah Al-Imran, along with its role in clarifying and elucidating meaning. It was found that simile is one of the most important tools of rhetorical imagery, earning a high status among pre-Islamic and Islamic scholars. Numerous scholars contributed to enriching the study of simile over a period of centuries. It was observed that contemporary rhetoricians rarely present new theoretical insights on simile, as they often follow the methodologies of classical scholars. Surah Al-Imran stands as a model for the density and abundance of similes in the Quran. It was also found that most similes in the Surah were accompanied by simile markers, with the most common being the word "(" "مثلlike") and its derivatives. Certain types of similes, such as reversed or implicit similes, were not present in the Surah. Most of the similes were used to either beautify or endear certain ideas or objects, or to repel and denounce others
