Critical taste in ancient and modern literature

Abstract

Literary taste is what evaluates a work in terms of the beauty and artistic value produced by the writer. Taste is related to the critic and the writer. As for the critic, he must understand and interpret the textual dimensions to a great extent. This requires the equipment and gear of learning the sciences of the Arabic language in all its categories, such as grammar, morphology, and prosody.... Do not forget that the society and environment in which the critic was raised have a great influence. As for the writer, he must take into account the reader and how to convey the idea or emotion in a smooth and simple way without complexity. The writer writes the text resulting from those turbulent emotions and feelings, and the human experiences that he has gone through throughout his life. Here lies the literary taste in how to convey those emotions to the reader in the way that they should.
