Abstract

The study aimed to identify the phenomenon of bullying among female students at the University of Zawiya: its prevalence and impacts by addressing the following aspects: identifying the educational role of the University of Zawiya in confronting the phenomenon of bullying, identifying the level of prevalence of bullying among female students at the University of Zawiya, identifying the most common forms of bullying experienced by female students at the University of Zawiya, identifying the psychological and social factors contributing to the exposure of female students at the University of Zawiya to bullying, and finally identifying the impacts of bullying on the academic performance and mental and social health of female students at the University of Zawiya. The study followed the descriptive approach. The study reached the following results: -The prevalence of bullying among university students leads to significant negative impacts on academic performance and mental and social health, necessitating effective measures to reduce this phenomenon and protect students. -The most common forms of bullying among female students include physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying, all of which negatively affect the psychological, social, and academic well-being of female students. -Psychological and social factors contribute to female students' exposure to bullying, including low self-confidence, introversion, social anxiety, a university environment tolerant of aggressive behavior, lack of social support, personal and cultural differences, in addition to cyberbullying, which increases psychological pressure. -Bullying negatively affects the academic performance and mental and social health of female students, leading to a decline in academic achievement, increased rates of anxiety and depression, reduced self-confidence, difficulty in building social relationships, and feelings of loneliness and isolation.
