Abstract

This research addresses the pragmatic characteristics of pronouns, as pronouns are among the most important linguistic tools in the Arabic language. Undoubtedly, they perform significant referential and semantic functions that help the speaker connect ideas and events within the context of speech. Pronouns, as a homogeneous branch added by the Arabs to the category of nouns, aim to place pronouns within the nominal list compared to explicit nouns. The expansion of grammatical classifications to include the pragmatic meaning of pronouns leads us to focus on the most important semantic characteristics that distinguish pronouns
