Abstract

This research is about an important phonetic phenomenon that is intonation which has an important effect in clarify the sentence meaning in spoken language , intonation depends on vocal tone which comes from speaker to receiver mind in order to understand the meaning according to the tone of speaker , so that the receiver recognize whether a spoken sentence is interrogative or exclamation or other meaning that occur by the tone , that leads to understand the meaning and ,this thing indicates to diversity of language and give a multiple meaning from on word . starting from the vocal tone is the origin of the spoken language . . In this paper will be addressed The phenomenon of intonation According to linguists In ancient and modern with examples to clarify the different meanings those produced by this important phonetic phenomenon.
