Building and Developing Values in Youth for Sustainable Impact

Abstract

This research aims to identify effective methods and modern strategies for building and developing values in youth, as well as the foundations for employing them in the classroom environment to establish, enhance, and solidify values. It also reviews studies that have addressed values and the methods for fostering them in young individuals, along with reports from the Ministry of Education and other organizations relevant to the topic. The research adopts a descriptive methodology to achieve its objectives and answer key questions. It explores the concept of values, methods for instilling them in youth, and modern strategies for teaching and learning values. Additionally, it examines the essential principles that teachers should employ to build, instill, and nurture values in young individuals, leveraging previous studies—both direct and indirect—related to the research topic. Findings The results indicate a lack of effective strategies and methods among some teachers for building and developing values, despite their importance in achieving affective learning objectives and fostering ethical and moral education in youth. The research highlights the essential principles teachers should integrate into the classroom environment and interactive learning situations to reinforce and sustain values. It underscores the significant role these approaches play in ensuring a lasting moral and ethical impact on students. Recommendations The study recommends adopting a national strategy that supports an implementation plan to achieve affective educational goals, ensuring the balanced moral and psychological development of youth. Additionally, it emphasizes the need to train teachers on:  Content analysis techniques to extract values and formulate affective learning objectives.  Effective methods and strategies for value development.  Reviewing and analyzing research findings related to values and their development in youth. By integrating these approaches, educators can contribute effectively to fostering a generation with strong ethical and moral foundations, ensuring a sustainable and meaningful impact on society
