Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of the Western Coast Security Zone in combating smuggling through the following axes: Identifying the methods used by smugglers to traffic drugs along the Western Coast. Examining the role of the Western Coast Security Zone in monitoring and combating drug smuggling operations. Analyzing the legislations and security measures implemented to address the phenomenon. Identifying the challenges hindering the fight against smuggling and providing recommendations to enhance security efforts. The descriptive approach was adopted as it suited the study’s objectives. The study reached the following conclusions: -Drug smuggling along Libya’s Western Coast relies on several common tactics employed by smuggling networks, including maritime smuggling, smuggling via commercial trucks concealed on ships, and the use of small aircraft to transport drugs from other regions along the Western Coast. -The role of the Western Coast Security Zone in monitoring and combating drug smuggling operations has had a clear and visible impact on the residents of the Western Coast, as evidenced by raids that closed drug-selling venues and the pursuit of smugglers in several coastal cities. -Through legal and security measures, the opportunities for drug smuggling are reduced; however, challenges persist as smuggling methods evolve, necessitating the continuous development of these policies over time. -The Western Coast Security Zone faces several significant challenges in combating drug smuggling.
