Main Article Content
Abstract
The research deals with the concepts of the lexicon and the lexicography according to Arabic scholars, explaining the difference between them and their role in understanding the language. The lexicon is a book that brings together a group of words arranged either alphabetically or thematically, and aims to clarify the meanings of words and their uses. It is an important tool that helps speakers and writers understand the language and comprehend it clearly. As for diacritics, it is related to adding dots to Arabic letters to distinguish them ,which facilitates reading texts correctly. It also helps in avoiding confusion between similar letters, and raising the level of understanding and communication in the language. The interaction between the lexicon and the dictionaries is evident in what we observe from the context of educational interaction. It enhances the learners ’ability to understand the Arabic language more deeply and to improve reading ,which helps students to recognize the correct pronunciation of words and to choose precise meanings when using dictionaries. This interaction also facilitates understanding different contexts and using vocabulary correctly ,which enhances their writing and communication skills. Through the above, the researcher demonstrated that dictionaries play an important role in organizing the language and facilitating access to the meanings of words, as they combine different definitions and derivations. Thus, dictionaries contribute significantly to removing ambiguity from the names of words and improving effective communication in the language.
