Abstract
This research aims to clarify the issue of renewal in Islamic thought, as it is considered an urgent necessity to ensure the validity of Sharia for all times and places, without compromising its constants. It highlights the most important features of renewal in various Islamic sciences, such as: principles, jurisprudence, creed, interpretation, and the Sunnah, while also addressing the criteria for renewal that should be considered to avoid diluting the texts. Additionally, it illustrates the relationship between renewal, independent reasoning (ijtihad), and imitation (taqlid), clarifying that renewal is the result of ijtihad that adheres to the principles of Sharia, and that it does not contradict imitation; rather, it complements it to preserve authenticity and renew understanding.
