Abstract

This study discusses traffic accidents on the main road of the Al AziziaTukut-Wazen border crossing during the year 2024, as well as an examination of the causes that led to these accidents and their resulting consequences. This road is one of the most accident-prone roads in Libya despite its relatively short length compared to the total length of the country's road network. The study is based on two assumptions to identify some of the main reasons for the high rate of traffic accidents on the road, along with a set of questions that point to these causes and the resulting consequences of these accidents. The study consists of two main aspects, one theoretical and the other analytical. The theoretical aspect includes a descriptive study of traffic accidents in Libya in general and in the study area specifically. The analytical aspect delves into the statistics of traffic accidents on Libya's road network, as well as on the Al Azizia - Tukut - Wazen border road during the year 2024, and the outcomes of these accidents.
