Abstract

This paper investigates the concept of prescribed financial penalties (al-ʿuqūbāt al-māliyyah al-muqaddarah) in Islamic jurisprudence, emphasizing their legal foundation, typologies, and their role in individual and societal reform. The study also addresses the underlying objectives of such sanctions, along with the measures applied to offenders, and proposes optimal implementation strategies. By aiming to achieve deterrence and discipline, these penalties function as an essential mechanism for upholding public order and administering justice. Ultimately, they contribute to the formation of ethically responsible and law-abiding individuals.
