The decline of civilization in the Quranic stories
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to study the phenomenon of civilizational decline from a Quranic perspective, by analyzing the stories contained in the Holy Quran relating to previous nations and civilizations. The study focused on uncovering the factors that led to the collapse of these civilizations, by examining God's laws in societies as mentioned in stories such as Aad, Thamud, the people of Noah, Lot, and Pharaoh. This research relied on the analytical and deductive approach, tracing verses related to the decline of civilizations and analyzing the historical, moral, and social contexts referenced in the Quranic text. The study concluded that civilizational decline in the Quran is not merely a result of material factors, but rather a reflection of an imbalance between values and human behavior, the absence of justice, the spread of corruption, arrogance, and aversion to divine messages. The results also showed that the Qur'anic stories provide a comprehensive model of the laws of rise and fall, establishing a moral civilizational vision based on faith, justice, and reform as essential elements for the continuation of human civilization. The study recommends drawing inspiration from this vision in addressing the contemporary civilizational challenges facing the Islamic nation
