Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the impact of anxiety on the performance of football players aged 17 to 19, identifying the psychological and social factors that contribute to increased anxiety among players, and exploring effective strategies to manage anxiety and enhance performance. The researcher employed a descriptive survey method, which is suitable for studying phenomena as they exist in reality, characterized by the collection of accurate and objective data that reflects the reality of the subjects without the researcher intervening to alter the studied phenomenon. The study population consisted of players in the youth category of the Libyan Premier League, with a sample of 65 players selected intentionally to ensure representation of the research community. The findings indicate that competitive anxiety poses a significant challenge that negatively affects players' focus and self-confidence, while social pressures from parents, peers, and coaches contribute to the intensification of this anxiety. Although players utilize some mechanisms to cope with anxiety, these strategies require systematic development, necessitating increased awareness among coaches regarding the importance of psychological support to improve players' performance. Recommendations include developing comprehensive psychological training programs for players, raising awareness among parents and coaches about the importance of psychological support, enhancing communication between players and coaches, integrating psychological aspects into sports training, and conducting further studies for a deeper understanding of the relationships between anxiety and influencing factor.
