Abstract

If language in literature refers to the quality of expression and its linguistic integrity, then repeated words, often used more than once, are considered to have artistic value, a goal the writer intends to emphasize and, at times, convey his idea through emotional motives. Naturally, repetition in the contexts of literary texts, poetry and prose (novels), is a stylistic and rhetorical technique specific to linguistic formulation, through which words are formed in a coherent manner to give aesthetic significance and high artistic value. Through this study, entitled (Repetition in Literary Texts: Poetic and Prose Models), an analytical study, in which we addressed the concept of repetition in language and terminology, then we summarized the term “recurrence,” which is meant by the narrative novel term. This study presents the details of the research through the introduction, followed by three chapters related to repetition in the poetic text of some poets in the modern era, as well as repetition in the novelistic text, where we presented novelistic models of the works of the novelist Ibrahim Al-Koni, including the novels Al-Tabar, Bleeding of the Stone and a model of the novel Night Grass, in which repetition appeared in a large and clear way, whether in the narrative or the dialogue. In any case, writers used repetition in poetry and fiction in a balanced manner. It was not flawed or distorted, but rather gave the meaning clarity and value, with suggestive connotations that expressed the writer's ideas and point of view.
