The Authority of the Implicative Meaning of Conjunction (Dalālat al-Iqtirān) A Foundational and Applied Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
The indication by association” is among the juristic-theoretical topics over which scholars differ regarding its probative value. While the majority of uṣūl scholars maintain that association in wording does not necessitate association in legal ruling, another group—relying on a set of evidences they deem preponderant—holds that it is a valid proof in legal derivation. A third group believes that its strength varies: it is strong in certain contexts and weak in others. This study examines the various viewpoints and evidences relied upon by each group in establishing their position, in addition to presenting applied examples from diverse fields in which the principle of association has appeared, whether to use it as evidence or to critique such use.” Keywords :Usul al-Fiqh, conjunction, association, legal ruling, meaning.
