Abstract

The The study aimed to identify the level of leadership skills among public school principals in the city of Benghazi and its relationship with their emotional intelligence from their own perspective. The study population consisted of all public-school principals in Benghazi during the academic year (2023-2024), totaling (200) male and female principals. A stratified random sample of (50%) was selected, amounting to (100) male and female principals. A questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection and to measure the level of both leadership skills (with its four dimensions: leading change, human skill, conceptual-intellectual skill, and decision-making skill) and emotional intelligence (with its five dimensions: self-awareness, self-management, motivation, empathy, and social skill). For data analysis, the (SPSS) program was used, relying on arithmetic means, standard deviations, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and the T-test. The results showed that the level of leadership skills and the level of emotional intelligence among public school principals in Benghazi were both high. It was also found that there is a positive, statistically significant correlation at the significance level of (0.01) between leadership skills and emotional intelligence.
