The reality of leadership skills practice among heads of academic departments at Sebha University - Faculty of Arts, from the perspective of faculty members

Abstract
The research aimed to identify the reality of leadership skills practiced by heads of academic departments at Sebha University (Faculty of Arts) from the perspective of faculty members, according to the variables of gender and academic qualification. The researcher used the descriptive method as it was suitable for the research in terms of description, analysis, and extracting results. A questionnaire was used as the research tool to collect data and information related to the research and to achieve the research objectives. The questionnaire was prepared by the researcher and was applied to a sample of (50) faculty members at Sebha University (Faculty of Arts). The questionnaire included (4) axes: human leadership skills, administrative leadership skills, technical leadership skills, and intellectual leadership skills. Among the most important results reached by the research is that the leadership skills of the heads of academic departments at Sebha University (Faculty of Arts) were at a high level. There are no statistically significant differences among faculty members in their assessment of the leadership skills of the heads of academic departments at Sebha University (Faculty of Arts) attributable to the variables of gender and academic qualification, in light of the research results. The researcher presented a set of recommendations and suggestions.
