Abstract

The Russian–Ukrainian war has become one of the most significant factors accelerating the transformation of the international system, given its profound regional and global impacts across geopolitical, military, security, and economic dimensions. Regardless of the war’s final outcomes, Russia has re-emerged as a principal global pole with substantial power capabilities, despite the Western sanctions imposed on it. At the same time, China has been the primary beneficiary of the intensified Russian–Western rivalry, amidst its ongoing economic boom and advancements in military modernization and technological development, positioning it as the strongest competitor to the United States. Concurrently, European states have embarked on comprehensive military, security, and economic restructuring efforts aimed at containing Russia and preventing the recurrence of the Ukrainian scenario in Central and Eastern Europe. As major powers became preoccupied with the war, the geopolitical influence of several regional actors—such as Japan , Egypt Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and India—expanded, becoming increasingly visible and impactful. The war has also reshaped international and regional alliances, driving shifts in strategic partnerships in line with emerging global power balances. Through an analysis of the geopolitical, military, and economic dimensions of the conflict, the research concludes that the war has accelerated the transition from a unipolar international system to a more flexible and dynamic multipolar order.
