Applications Artificial Intelligence in the Development of Library and Information Services: Reality, Challenges, and Future Prospects

Abstract

This research aims to study the role of artificial intelligence applications in the development of library and information services, with a focus on the reality of their use in Libyan libraries and the challenges facing their adoption. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method, and the questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data from a sample of specialized faculty members. The results showed a high level of theoretical awareness of the importance of artificial intelligence, a clear weakness in actual application within libraries. The study also indicated that artificial intelligence contributes to improving the quality of library services; however, weak infrastructure and a lack of qualified personnel represent the most prominent obstacles. The research concluded with the necessity of enhancing training and developing clear digital strategies to activate smart libraries.
