The Role of Editing in Highlighting the Element of Suspense in the Cinematic Film

Abstract
This research aims to identify the artistic methods and visual techniques used to create suspense and to study the relationship between cinematic time structure and dramatic tension. The research employs a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing descriptive analysis of editing elements and semiotic analysis to interpret the visual signs that generate suspense within the film's context. The research also utilizes a case study methodology, analyzing selected scenes from well-known films that rely on suspense. The research arrives at several key findings, including: editing utilizes numerous techniques to create anticipation, mystery, and expectation, and visual effects play a positive role in generating suspense. Several recommendations are made, including: establishing a specialized field of study focusing on the use of modern trends and techniques enhanced by suspense elements in dramatic arts, and developing a strategy within drama institutes and colleges to teach suspense as a crucial element for the success of cinematic film.
