Abstract

The study aims to investigate the relationship between self-concept and aggressive behavior, and to identify statistical differences in this relationship according to the research variables of gender and specialization. The researcher employed the descriptive–analytical method, which is based on studying the phenomenon. The research sample consisted of (150) male and female secondary school students. Among the tools used in the study was the Aggressive Behavior Questionnaire, developed by the researcher. To test the research hypotheses, the following statistical methods were used: the t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, the Spearman–Brown formula, and the split-half method. The results indicated a statistically significant positive correlation between the level of aggressive behavior and self-concept. They also showed statistically significant differences according to the gender variable, while statistically significant differences at the (0.05) significance level were found between the dimensions of aggressive behavior (aggression toward the self, toward others, and toward school property) and self-concept according to the specialization.
