Abstract

There is no doubt that educational violence, in its various forms—whether physical punishment, verbal abuse, or psychological abuse practiced by some teachers against students—is one of the widespread problems in schools at different educational stages. Undoubtedly, this problem negatively affects students as well as all other components of the educational process. The current study aims to identify the role of the social worker in reducing the phenomenon of school violence and to explore ways of involving students in programs and activities that help mitigate this phenomenon, which has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, particularly in Libyan society. This spread is attributed to the exposure of society to wars that have affected the psychological well-being of children, leading to aggressive behavior and the development of unhealthy personalities. Accordingly, every social worker must develop sound therapeutic plans that help reduce the severity of school violence. Since the social worker is a fundamental pillar in any educational institution, it is essential to involve the psychological counselor and intensify joint efforts to create a generation free from psychological disorders among students.
