Abstract
In this research, I dealt with the bimaristans in Iraq during the Abbasid era from the year (132-330 AH/749-941 AD), and explained the role of the bimaristans in providing free therapeutic services to patients, and the role of doctors in treating them and providing services to patients. The beginning of the emergence of the Islamic bimaristans was also introduced from the era of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, through the Umayyad state until the era of the Abbasid Caliphate, and how the bimaristans underwent construction and development throughout these eras, and how It was able to provide all services with the necessary capabilities available to provide medicine and treat patients, and how Muslims did not differentiate in providing treatment between Muslims and non-Muslims, and the work of an administrative apparatus within the bimaristans to provide public services to all, and an explanation of the role of the muhtasib in monitoring the work of doctors, then it explained the tasks of the employees within the bimaristans, each according to his job, mentioning the most famous bimaristans in Iraq during the Abbasid era, and in the research I presented the types of bimaristans, whether mobile or fixed, and showed their role in treating patients in general.
