The Infallibility of the Prophets Between the Accusations of the Jews and the Reverence of the Muslims — A Comparative Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
The infallibility of the Messengers is one of the important doctrinal issues that highlights the fundamental difference between the Islamic conception and the Jewish conception of the prophets. Some Old Testament texts attribute great sins and evil deeds to a number of prophets, such as Noah for drunkenness, Lot for immorality, David for adultery and murder, and Solomon for idolatry. These accusations degrade the prophets, weaken confidence in their messages, and contradict the wisdom of their mission. As for Islam, the Prophets have been honored with a purity worthy of the status of Prophethood, and it has established the principle of their infallibility with regard to the transmission of revelation, so that there is no concealment, distortion or lie from them. He also infallible them from the great vices and vices that bring down the evil and slander them by example. The Sunnis allowed the minor ones to fall from them in a way that was not insistent, while hastening to repent and divine warning, in order to show their humanity and teach the nation to return to the truth.
