Abstract

This research examines rhythm and poetic theme in the poetry of Ali Al-Raqe'i, describing rhythm as an active structural element that contributes to the formation of meaning and the construction of the aesthetic significance of the poetic text. It emphasises that rhythm does not only perform a musical function, but is also closely linked to the poetic theme and the poet's emotional experience.

The research highlights the diversity of rhythmic structure in Al-Raqe'i's poetry through the multiplicity of poetic meters, with a clear preference for some meters over others, alongside the simplicity of language and the unity of artistic imagery, and the presence of internal music through repetition and imperfect assonance. It concludes that rhythm contributes to the deepening of poetic themes, especially issues of homeland and society, making Ali Al-Raqeai's poetry a model of the interaction between rhythm and theme in contemporary Libyan poetry.
