Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the family’s role in promoting community security, based on the premise that the family is the primary social institution responsible for raising individuals and instilling moral and social values that contribute to social stability and cohesion. The study aims to clarify the role of the family in building and safeguarding community security, to highlight the effectiveness of its educational and social functions in guiding individual behavior and reducing negative behaviors, and to identify the main challenges facing the family in light of contemporary social and cultural changes.

The study adopts a descriptive analytical approach based on a library-based methodology, through the analysis of a range of Arabic and foreign books, references, and studies related to the topic of the family and community security. The findings indicate that the family plays a pivotal role in enhancing community security through sound socialization, positive parental supervision, family dialogue, and psychological and social support for children, which contribute to strengthening a sense of belonging and social responsibility and reducing manifestations of deviant behavior.

The study also shows that the family’s ability to perform its role is influenced by several factors, most notably cultural transformations, the impact of mass media and social media, in addition to economic pressures and internal family problems. The study emphasizes the importance of supporting the family through society and its educational, social, and legislative institutions, as well as the necessity of strengthening partnership and integration between the family and society in order to achieve sustainable community security and social stability.
