Media coverage of the Great Flood in Libyan journalism: Al-Sabah newspaper as an example

Abstract
This study aimed to answer the following question: How did Libyan newspapers address the issue of "The Flood of Al-Aqsa," as represented by the newspaper Al-Sabah, issued by the General Press Authority, during the period from October 8, 2023, to October 8, 2024?
The study reached several results, the most important of which were: the newspaper showed significant interest in the issue of "The Flood of Al-Aqsa," with political topics ranking first, followed by military issues. The findings indicated that the newspaper aims to achieve multiple objectives through its coverage of "The Flood of Al-Aqsa," with news publications receiving the highest percentage. The second rank was occupied by the categories of presenting developments in the issue and expressing viewpoints.
Regarding the forms and genres of journalism used, the article category ranked first. The study revealed that the newspaper utilized the moderate pyramid structure in its publications, followed by the inverted pyramid structure in second place. Concerning sources, the newspaper relied on the column writer category, followed by the Libyan news agency.
In terms of the functions of the journalistic material, the category exposing the enemy's crimes in Gaza ranked first. Additionally, the publication site in internal pages ranked highest, with the headline featuring a strong phrase coming in first as well. The category of objective images had the highest percentage, while the three-color element ranked first among colors.
