The study is organized into two main sections and a conclusion. The first section introduces the eminent ḥadīth scholar Ibn al-Salah (d. 643 AH/1245 CE), outlining his scholarly status and his significant role in systematizing the discipline of ḥadīth terminology (muṣṭalaḥ al-ḥadīth) , It also presents an overview of his book Muqaddimat ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth , its methodological arrangement of ḥadīth categories, and its distinctive scholarly feature, The work is characterized by its comprehensive compilation and refinement of dispersed discussions found in earlier sources, reorganized into a coherent and structured framework, Consequently, it became a foundational reference for later scholars and a primary authority in the field. The second section surveys the major studies conducted on the Muqaddimah, including commentaries, summaries, poetic renditions, and critical engagements, It further highlights the book’s profound impact on shaping the technical structure of ḥadīth sciences, standardizing terminology, and consolidating its classifications, As a result, the Muqaddimah emerged as a central text in the teaching and development of ḥadīth studies across generations. The study concludes that Muqaddimat ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth represents a pivotal stage in the history of writing on ḥadīth sciences, It marks the transition from dispersed compilations to a systematic and methodologically grounded discipline, The abundance of scholarly works devoted to it attests to its enduring authority and continued influence in both classical and contemporary ḥadīth scholarship, underscoring its indispensability in any research addressing the development and codification of ḥadīth terminology.
