Abstract
Motivation has become a fundamental topic, and its study helps us understand, control, and predict human behavior for the purpose of developing it. Studying the motives behind this behavior helps us identify its magnitude, strength, form, and direction, thereby enabling us to explain it. Motivation is of fundamental importance in all the psychological systems and applications that sports psychology has developed to date. This is due to the following fact: all behavior has a motive behind it, meaning that specific motivating forces lie behind it. Thus, it can be said that motivation is not a physical thing that can be directly observed, but rather an internal state that can be inferred indirectly through an individual's behavior. From this principle, motivation is the primary driver of all behavior; it stimulates and directs behavior toward a specific goal. If this goal is not achieved, the individual continues to face the problem of satisfying the motivation, so they continue their activity until they achieve the goal. The research aims to identify the motives for students to join the Faculty of Physical Education, University of Marqab. For this purpose, a questionnaire was designed that included several areas related to the research topic and was presented to experts and specialists before using it. The research sample was 102 students. The research concluded that the axis of academic motivations was ranked first among the questionnaire axes.
The researchers recommended utilizing the results of students' motivations for enrolling in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and investing them in motivating them to improve their professional performance. They also recommended focusing on studying students' motivations toward physical education by providing resources and satisfying their needs and desires according to priorities.
