Urban expansion in the Municipality of Ain Zara during the period between (1990-2020) by using remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems

Abstract

This study were conducted in order to clarify the urban expansion in the
municipality of Ain Zara during the period between (1990-2020). This
municipality, were considered to be one of the most important urban centers
of the city of Tripoli, and the most expanding municipality within Greater
Tripoli Municipalities , The current study were aimed at clarifying the
amount (Size) of urban expansion and its trends during the deisgnated period
(two Decades). A software with a spatial dimension, using GIS and remote
sensing techniques, with their high capabilities to monitor urban
developments in the studied area were applied. The set of results obtained
indicates that , the urban expansion size of Ain Zara municipality for the
period selected found to be (84.9%). The study reflect on the necessity to
implements and enforce the urban planning law and lesiglations that govern
and control urban growth in the country. The study also reflects on the need
to apply a planning system which should be implimented through a series of
procedural processes in order to ensure the effectiveness of this system.
