The Graduation Research System at the Faculty of Arts, University of Benghazi: An Evaluative Study

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the current state of distribution of graduation research projects, graduate numbers, and academic departments within the existing graduation research system at the Faculty of Arts, University of Benghazi, and to identify and clarify the stages involved in building this system. The study also sought to evaluate the graduation research system in order to determine the extent of its compliance with international standards for database evaluation in terms of performance efficiency and output quality. The descriptive-analytical method was employed in this study, and several data collection tools were utilized, including reports from the Faculty's Graduation Research Office, official statistics, and the ISO/IEC 25010 standard. The study reached several findings, including the following: the total number of graduation research projects completed at the Faculty, as recorded in the system, amounted to (523) research projects over six consecutive semesters; the graduation research system passed through (5) complementary stages during its establishment; the ISO/IEC 25010 standard was applied in evaluating the graduation research system at the Faculty of Arts, University of Benghazi, according to six characteristics, among which usability achieved the highest average (4.6), demonstrating compliance with the standard's requirements; the system's performance efficiency was rated good, with an average of (4.4), a result reflecting adherence to the efficiency criteria specified by the standard; the system exhibited a good level of security, with an average of (4.4), which aligns with the standard's requirements regarding the protection of information, data, and privacy; the system demonstrated good reliability, operating without interruption, with an average of (4.0); and the system's maintainability, in terms of modification, development, and enhancement, also achieved an average of (4.0).
