The Phenomenon of Fronting and Backshifting and Its Impact on Grammatical Structure and Its Semantic Functions

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the phenomenon of fronting and backshifting in Arabic grammar, demonstrating its impact on sentence structure and the control of its components. It analyzes the grammatical foundations upon which this phenomenon is based in determining meaning and directing connotation, revealing the relationship between grammatical structure and rhetorical function, and highlighting its practical value in teaching Arabic and developing students' linguistic analysis skills. This study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, and the results showed that this phenomenon represents an integrated grammatical system that plays a rhetorical and semantic role in the language.
