The Ephemeral Construction in Nouns: The Controversy of Neologisms in Free Verse Poetry A Study of Transformations in the Poetic Lexicon and Mechanisms of SemanticFormation

Abstract

This study examines the dialectic of neologisms (modernized vocabulary) in the experience of free verse (Taf’ila poetry) as one of the most prominent stylistic and aesthetic transformations that accompanied the modernity of contemporary poetic discourse. The research aims to trace the mechanisms through which modern poets departed from the traditional classical lexicon, adopting words derived from daily life, scientific terminology, and cultural advancement. It attempts to uncover how these neologisms transitioned from their pragmatic, prose contexts into artistic, creative frameworks. To achieve this objective, the study adopts an integrative stylistic approach utilizing both statistical and analytical mechanisms, relying on systematic documentation according to the APA (7th edition) system to enhance its reference validity. The research framework comprises a theoretical introduction defining the concept of 'neologism' in contemporary criticism, followed by two applied sections: the first discusses 'The New Poetic Lexicon and the Structure of Irony,' while the second monitors 'The Semantic and Functional Deviation of Scientific and Cultural Terms in the Poetic Text.' The study concluded with several findings, most notably that the adoption of neologisms was not merely a lexical replacement but formed a new epistemological vision imposed by the nature of the era. Furthermore, the research demonstrated that these words succeeded in unlocking new semantic capacities through deviation and contextual synthesis. This contributed to bridging the gap between artistic language and daily life, while maintaining the poem's poetic quality and rhythmic balance without falling into prosaic directness.
