Abstract

This study investigates how the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools threatens the true originality of scientific research. Using a descriptive-analytical framework, the research targeted faculty members and researchers affiliated with the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research. We drew a simple random sample of (98) participants, a method chosen specifically to fit the study's scope and practical objectives. Results indicated clear, statistically significant positive correlations among the main variables. Essentially, the more researchers rely on AI to draft their work, the higher the risks that negatively compromise the research's authenticity. This trend highlights an urgent need to continuously update our mitigation strategies and tools. While no one can deny the efficiency AI brings to research preparation, its deployment desperately requires strict regulatory boundaries. Mitigating these risks involves deepening the culture of academic ethics, reinforcing the core attributes expected of any credible researcher, and strictly following established legal norms. Practically, this means researchers must rigorously audit AI-generated outcomes, critically examine numerical data, and ensure that logical interpretations actually match real-world empirical evidence. We strongly recommend deploying advanced plagiarism-detection applications alongside creating a dedicated ethical charter for AI use in academia. Ultimately, scientific research departments across educational and regulatory institutions face a pressing mandate: they must overhaul their existing guidelines and identity-verification protocols. Adapting these regulatory policies to keep pace with rapid AI advancements is the only way to genuinely protect the authenticity of.
