The Shadow Crime and the Economic and Social Implications of Money Laundering: Preventive Immunization Strategies
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study explores money laundering as one of the most serious economic crimes, commonly referred to as the "shadow crime," due to its profound and damaging impact on national economies. It examines the economic and social repercussions of this phenomenon on both developed and developing societies, as well as its adverse effects on economic and social stability. Money laundering distorts markets, weakens trust in financial institutions, and exacerbates social inequality. Furthermore, the study discusses preventive immunization strategies that states and institutions may adopt, including strengthening legislative frameworks, enhancing financial monitoring mechanisms, and intensifying international cooperation to combat this transnational phenomenon.
