Obstacles to the Use of E-Learning Programs from the Perspective of Teachers of Children with Autism: A Case Study of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)

Abstract

The research aimed to reveal the obstacles facing teachers of autistic children in using the computerized PIX program and to identify the training and technical needs necessary to enable teachers of autistic children to use the computerized PIX program effectively,The descriptive approach was used, and the research sample consists of teachers of autistic children working at the National Center for the Treatment and Diagnosis of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their number is (50) teachers who were randomly selected from the total parameters of the center, and the questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data The results of the research showed that the teachers working at the National Center for the Treatment and Diagnosis of Autistic Children face a set of obstacles that hinder the application of the computerized PIX program, and these obstacles constitute an obstacle to the ability of teachers to use the program effectively with children with autism spectrum disorder, and the results of the research revealed the existence of urgent training needs among teachers at the National Center for the Treatment and Diagnosis of Autistic Children, If met by providing the necessary training and techniques, teachers will be able to use the computerized PIX program more effectively, which will contribute to improving the non-verbal communication skills of children with autism spectrum disorder enrolled in the center.
