Abstract

This study aims to examine the morphological structure and semantic function of hyperbolic expressions and comparative adjectives in Surah Al-Anbiya’, through an applied approach that reveals the relationship between the morphological system and Qur’anic semantics in the light of context. It also aims to catalogue these forms and classify them according to their morphological patterns, analyse their semantic and rhetorical functions, and demonstrate the influence of context in guiding their meanings and their selection over others, as well as examining the extent to which these structures contribute to highlighting the doctrinal, descriptive and educational meanings in the surah. The study adopted an inductive approach in collecting evidence, and a descriptive-analytical approach in analysing it to reveal manifestations of linguistic miraculousness in the choice of morphological structures and the precision of their connection to Qur’anic objectives. The study concludes that the in the Qur’anic discourse is not a mere formal mould, but rather an active semantic tool that contributes to shaping and directing meaning.
