The Significance of Themes in Kuwaiti Women’s Fictional Discourse: Buthaina Al-Essa, Laila Al-Othman, and Fawzia Al-Salem as Selected Models

Abstract

In this research, we seek to critically study the modern Kuwaiti women's novel, by analyzing the significance of the topics presented in it, and identifying the position of the "female self" in the context of national and humanitarian issues. This study aspires to shed light on the Kuwaiti women's narrative, and tries to fill a critical gap in the field of critical studies of women's narrative in Kuwait, and to contribute to revealing the features of the contemporary Kuwaiti women's novel, and the extent to which it is able to express women's issues in Kuwaiti society, in addition to enhancing its presence within the map of the modern Gulf narrative.
