The Reality of Death and the Conditions of the Dead in Islamic Thought

Abstract

The research explores the reality of death and the state of the deceased in Islamic thought, examining its implications as described in the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah. It delves into the concept of these unseen matters and their impact on Muslim behavior. The research also addresses the most significant aspects of death that distinguish Islam from other Abrahamic religions. The research is divided into two sections. The first section explores the concept and reality of death, shedding light on its linguistic and terminological meanings, as well as its portrayal in the Quranic texts and the Prophetic Sunnah. The second section examines the state of the deceased after death, including the separation of the soul from the body as described in the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah. It also explains the intermediate life (Barzakh) and its mysteries within Islamic thought, and sheds light on the reality of reward and punishment, highlighting their crucial role in shaping individual behavior through the dissemination of this profound understanding of faith.
