Barriers to Scientific Research Among a Sample Of Faculty Members at the Faculty of Education, University of Benghazi

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the obstacles to scientific research among a sample of faculty members at the Faculty of Education, University of Benghazi. The sample consisted of (43) faculty members who were randomly selected to answer a questionnaire consisting of (36) items distributed across five dimensions. The study results revealed that the highest obstacles facing faculty members are financial obstacles and obstacles related to work conditions, while personal obstacles are at an average level. In general, the obstacles facing faculty members at the college are relatively high, while there are no statistically significant differences attributable to the gender variable except for obstacles related to work conditions, in favor of women. Meanwhile, scientific specialization and years of experience do not significantly affect the perception of research obstacles among the study sample. Therefore it can be concluded that the obstacles facing faculty members in scientific research are relatively similar, regardless of the academic degree they hold.
