The Role of the Mosque in Protecting Youth from Intellectual Deviance

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of the mosque in protecting young people from intellectual deviation through the following aspects: defining the concept of intellectual deviation, highlighting its main causes and manifestations among youth from the perspective of Islamic law, identifying the role of the mosque in protecting youth from intellectual deviation in light of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah, examining the religious and educational methods and approaches through which the mosque contributes to establishing the values of moderation and balance and enhancing intellectual security among young people, identifying the main obstacles that limit the effectiveness of the mosque in protecting youth from intellectual deviation, and presenting proposed strategies to activate its role in addressing contemporary intellectual challenges. The study adopted the descriptive approach due to its suitability for the objectives of the research. The study reached the following findings: The results showed that intellectual deviation represents a departure from the moderate Islamic approach based on the Qur’an and Sunnah. The results indicated that the mosque plays a pivotal role in protecting young people from intellectual deviation by reinforcing sound Islamic beliefs. The results confirmed that the success of the mosque in promoting intellectual security depends on employing diverse religious and educational methods. The results revealed that the effectiveness of the mosque in confronting intellectual deviation may be affected by a number of obstacles.
