The Cause of Interpreting According to Meaning: “Masculinization and Feminization of the Verb” in Surat Al-Qasas as a Model — An Applied Grammatical and Semantic Study

Abstract

The grammatical causes are among the most important phenomena that grammarians have focused on, as they help establish rules and guide grammatical judgments. Every grammatical phenomenon must have a cause that explains it and clarifies the reason for its grammatical ruling. Among these causes is the cause of carrying on meaning, which studies the phenomenon of the masculine and feminine forms of verbs. This has motivated me to study this phenomenon, leading me to choose the title of my research: "The Cause of Carrying on Meaning: The Masculine and Feminine Forms of Verbs in Surah Al-Qasas." This is a practical, semantic grammatical study aimed at identifying the verses in Surah Al-Qasas where the masculine and feminine forms of verbs appear. There are verses that require the masculine form, others that require the feminine form, and some where either form is permissible, along with an explanation of the cause behind these phenomena. In this study, I have followed a descriptive analytical approach, which involves examining the phenomenon in the books of grammarians and then applying it to the verses found in Surah Al-Qasas.
