Abstract
The present study aimed to investigate the nature of the relationship between mental flexibility and academic self-efficacy among students of the Faculty of Science at the University of Tobruk, in light of selected demographic variables. The study adopted the descriptive correlational method and was conducted on a sample of 100 male and female students from the Faculty of Science at the University of Tobruk. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher employed measures of mental flexibility and academic self-efficacy after verifying their suitability for the purposes of the study. The results revealed a positive and statistically significant correlation between mental flexibility and academic self-efficacy among the participants. This finding indicates that greater students’ ability to adapt cognitively, modify their patterns of thinking, and adjust their strategies is associated with a higher perception of their ability to perform academic tasks and cope with their academic demands.
