The Extent of Intellectual Capital Contribution to Organizational Development Processes in Commercial Banks: An Empirical Study on North Africa Bank – Head Office – Tripoli

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the extent to which intellectual capital, with its components (human, structural, and relational), contributes to organizational development processes. This was achieved through a case study of the North Africa Bank – Head Office in Tripoli. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, collecting data through a questionnaire distributed to a sample of 64 employees. The data was then analyzed to measure the impact of intellectual capital on organizational development. The results showed a positive contribution of intellectual capital, in its entirety, to supporting organizational development and enhancing organizational sustainability. The results also indicated that the level of human and structural capital was average, while the level of relational capital was low, according to the adopted scale. Furthermore, the level of organizational development at the bank under study was also found to be low. In light of the results, the study recommended creating an organizational environment that stimulates innovation and creativity, enhancing employee participation in providing development ideas, committing to the application of governance principles, redesigning organizational structures to achieve greater flexibility and adaptability to changes, in addition to enhancing the quality of banking services and social responsibility in a way that contributes to supporting organizational sustainability.
