Abstract

This period in Libya extended from 132 to 184 AH / 479 to 800 CE. The significance of studying this era lies in its distinctive economic prosperity, despite the external political turmoil that the region experienced due to internal revolts, external wars, and ongoing political instability. These challenges did not prevent the local population from engaging in economic activities, whether in agriculture, industry, or trade. Taxes were paid to the governing state of the region, whether under the Umayyad or Abbasid rule, as evidence of the region’s allegiance to these empires. This contributed to the growth of economic life in the area.
